2026
Build foundations, and get on the map and fundraising
Technical: intensive skills work (starts, mark roundings, tacks/gybes, upwind/downwind modes) use training clinics and masters/worlds programs to systematize feedback and video.
Physical: increase competitive weight, develop aerobic base and structured hiking capacity; research finds sustained hiking with good form is a central limiter, with ~30% force drop over a 10‑minute upwind if untrained.
Racing: targeting international, national and regional events to establish a ranking and learn competition. Get top 50% at least at Palma, but top 10-20% for better funding from US SAIING OLYMPIC PROGRAM.

2027
Performance and qualification push
Target ILCA 7 Worlds, continental championships, and key regattas like Princesa Sofía that sit in the LA28 pipeline.

I’m aiming to consistently make gold fleet, then top‑20–30, adjusting my plan based on where I lose most points (starts vs pace vs decision‑making).

My Daily and Weekly
Training Structure.
On the water,
I’m training 2 to 4 times a week, usually in 2.5 to 3 hour sessions. Each session is short and high quality, focused on starts with line bias and time on distance work, upwind speed tuning with a training partner, downwind mode changes, and pressure lane holding. I also run simulated multi race days of three race blocks that replicate the LA 2028 format so I can fine tune clean first beats and sharpen my risk management under fatigue. Whenever I’m training out of Long Beach, I focus specifically on the venue, getting a feel for current lanes, local wind bends, and the sea breeze timing unique to that venue.
Off the water,
I’m training physically five to seven times per week following a periodized plan. The aerobic work on the bike, rower, or run builds the endurance I need for multiple 45 to 60 minute races in a day. I’ve been putting extra emphasis on hiking specific strength and endurance through hiking bench intervals and ergometer work, including eight week blocks with two 90 minute hiking sessions per week to improve activation and delay fatigue. My strength workouts target the posterior chain, quads, hip flexors, trunk, and grip. I also keep a regular mobility and prehab routine focused on shoulders, hips, and lower back to handle the cumulative load.
Each day of sailing ends with a structured review. I debrief using video from a 360 or stern camera to refine setup, posture, and tactical decision making, similar to what top ILCA clinics do. I keep a detailed campaign log with wind data, speed notes, and tactical outcomes, which all feed into a personal tactical playbook that I review regularly to track learning patterns.
On the tactical and mental side,
I study fleet race dynamics in large ILCA fleets, focusing on balancing strategy against fleet relative risk and managing a series lead. I practice scenarios that simulate protecting a points lead heading into multi race finals, and I’m developing repeatable routines for start execution, first beat decisions, and knowing when to consolidate versus attack. Mentally, I’m working with a sport psychologist to build reset routines, confidence strategies, and stress management tools. Visualization of key racing moments has also become a regular part of my prep.
Finally, I’m putting structure around the broader campaign, building a support team that includes an experienced ILCA coach, strength and conditioning coach, and potentially a meteorologist familiar with Long Beach conditions. I’m also planning the finances and calendar, lining up boats, sails, logistics, and a complete schedule of qualifiers and ranking events leading up to 2028.
